The biggest difference is the cap. Open-cap pens (V2, V2.5) keep the needle out of sight while you inject; closed-cap pens (V1, V3) let you see it. Every pen uses the same 3 mL cartridges and universal pen needles, and dials 1 click = 1 unit.
